Abstract: Objective: To analyze the regulatory role and ethical responsibility of barcode technology in enhancing productivity and marketing requirements in business organizations in Iraq's Middle Euphrates region.
Methodology: A descriptive analytical approach was used. A questionnaire was distributed to 30 consumers across six marketing outlets in Babylon Governorate. Data were analyzed using SPSS (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.87).
Findings: Half of consumers can identify product origin via barcodes, while the other half cannot. Most consumers feel reassured when reading barcodes, but a gap exists between awareness and practice. Barcode readers are largely unavailable or used only for price checking. Most consumers view barcodes as a quality guarantee.
Recommendations: Companies should adopt clear, standardized barcodes. Governments should enforce consumer protection laws. Consumers should use barcodes as an information source, not just a price tag.
